Position overview:
A Church Initiative copyeditor makes sure that text is readable, accurate, and ready for publication.
Key responsibilities:
Copyediting/proofing:
For staff-written articles and weekly blog posts, you will
You’ll receive weekly blog posts and occasional leadership articles. The leadership articles are to be edited in Word, and you will be responsible for inserting the final copy into an online database.
Copywriting:
You will be responsible for taking existing articles and revising them for a different audience. For instance, the article might be written for the small group leader of a divorce support group, and you will adapt it to be applicable for the small group leader of a single-parent support group.
Additional duties:
The company produces several types of publications, and you may be called upon to edit items such as ebooks, web copy, advertisements, video clips with onscreen text, and more.
Qualifications:
This position requires a proven track record in copyediting, at least 3–5 years of experience, and a bachelor’s degree, with coursework in English or journalism.
