Job Description:

Supports General Accounting by providing detailed financial analysis and reporting.  Works closely with General Accounting Manager to ensure distribution of timely and accurate accounting information.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Perform accounting functions including compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts, account analysis, activities necessary for monthly and yearly close, and assist with general ledger maintenance.

 

Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analyses.

 

Responsible for all aspects of fixed asset accounting.

 

Compile supporting documentation, determine depreciable basis and useful life, recommend depreciation expense for budget, assist other departments in the proper coding of assets, record use of donor-restricted funds for asset purchase, property tax filings, and prepare asset reports for management as requested.

 

Prepare monthly capital budget reports, including reports to management, variance analysis, and reporting on non-budgeted acquisitions.

 

Responsible for monthly operating account investment analysis, including maintaining schedules, recording activity in general ledger, and reporting to management.  

 

Serve as backup to duties assigned to Staff Accountants.

 

Assist in the preparation of the annual IRS Form 990.

 

Prepare schedules and information required for the annual audit by the external auditors.

 

Serve as the Shared Services Coordinator working with SP departments and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

 

Review, analyze and reconcile inventory entries from inventory system to general ledger.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Accounting and 5 to 7 years’ accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA strongly preferred.  Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.

The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God's desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them.
