Job Description:

The Forum of Christian Leaders

The Forum of Christian Leaders (FOCL) is the administrative office that serves the European Leadership Forum (Forum). The Forum exists to unite, mentor, and resource Europe’s evangelical leaders. This happens first at the Forum’s annual, May meeting in Wisla, Poland. More than 700 individuals from over 40 countries attended the 2014 Forum. As a result, we expect more than 350 events to occur across the European continent over the next year. (To learn more, visit euroleadership.org.) In addition to the Forum, FOCL is host to foclonline.org, an online community for evangelical Christians that includes a webinar program as well as a growing media library of evangelical teaching.

Overall Responsibilities

The Forum Initiatives Coordinator will administrate all official spin-off events of the European Leadership Forum. Amongst other things, this includes administrating small conferences of 15 – 20 people each (such as the Cambridge Scholars Network and the Leadership Development Initiative), as well as supporting the Forum’s work in individual countries across Europe. As part of this role, the Forum Initiatives Coordinator will have the opportunity to help evaluate and improve existing initiatives, as well as propose new strategies.

Qualifications

Applicants should be committed evangelical Christians who possess an undergraduate degree in any field.  They should be:

  • Adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Resourceful and self-motivated
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail
  • Warm and clear in written communication

Intermediate competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is a must.  Previous event management experience (recruiting attendees, communicating with vendors, coordinating event schedules, etc.), whether professional or otherwise, is strongly preferred, as is prior cross-cultural experience.

Terms and Compensation

The Forum Initiatives Coordinator position will be a full-time role. Starting compensation will be based on skill level and experience.

Benefits

All FOCL employees travel to the Forum in Europe (at FOCL’s expense) each May to administrate the Forum. Following the Forum, all employees are given a week of paid vacation during which they are encouraged to tour Europe (at their own expense). In addition, all full-time employees start out with two additional weeks of paid vacation, along with nine paid holidays. FOCL offers health benefits to all full-time employees.

Contact

Applicants should email a cover letter, resume, and two writing samples to Elizabeth Shuter at hr@euroleadership.org.

About Forum of Christian Leaders

What is the Forum of Christian Leaders?

The Forum of Christian Leaders (FOCL) exists to unite, equip, and resource evangelical leaders toward the end of world evangelism and the renewal of the biblical church. Our ministry consists of the following four components:

  • Forum Initiatives: Spiritual and leadership development opportunities that provide intensive, specialized training for small groups of evangelical leaders

  • Forum Movement: Local and regional events organized by European Leadership Forum participants that provide training and outreach throughout Europe in native languages (Example: forumeast.eu/en/)

  • Forum Global: Strategies that share the European church’s leadership lessons with the global church, includes online media library and free webinars (Examplewww.foclonline.org/resources)

Why Europe?

Many still view Europe through the lens of its Christian past. However, this perception differs greatly from reality. Today, less than 2% of Europeans identify as evangelicals while nearly 18% are atheists or agnostics. European Christian leaders often feel overwhelmed and isolated. We aim to serve and encourage these leaders as they seek to be faithful to their callings.

Moreover, we recognize that Europe has enjoyed unique influence on the international stage. Many movements have European origins, including the Renaissance, the Scientific Revolution, and Postmodernism. These ideologies have shaped modern cultures, sparked global conflicts, and informed generations of leaders. We believe to invest in the Gospel in Europe is to invest in the Gospel for the world at large.

Why work for FOCL?

  • Serve evangelical leaders from across the world: Through their work, FOCL employees help connect, train, and encourage brothers and sisters from all over the globe.

  • Develop a wide range of skills: Because FOCL is a small organization, employees “wear many different hats” and therefore have the opportunity to develop skills in a way they wouldn’t in a more traditional, strictly departmental work environment.

  • Travel to Europe: All full-time employees travel to Poland each May to help facilitate the European Leadership Forum Annual Meeting. Many take advantage of the opportunity for personal European travel following the event.

  • Join a close-knit team of fellow believers: The FOCL team is small and committed to loving and supporting one another in ways related to both work and life outside of the office.

  • Grow your faith: FOCL's work naturally provides opportunity for discussion of God and faith. In addition, FOCL team members participate in weekly devotions that consist of viewing a lecture or sermon followed by small group discussion during which staff are invited to share personal challenges/needs as they feel comfortable.
