Organization: Transforming the Bay with Christ

Position Title: Chief Executive Officer/Chief Spiritual Officer

Reports To: Transforming the Bay with Chirst Cabinet

 

Transforming the Bay with Christ (TBC) is a movement that was launched in 2013. The purpose of TBC is to catalyze a holistic gospel movement in the Bay Area. We believe the Bay Area has a significant work taking place and therefore our objective to discover, celebrate, collaborate, connect and amplify the work that’s already happening.

 

The Chief Executive Officer works closely with TBC Cabinet and TBC Initiative Directors and is responsible for the organizational culture and achievement of its mission, goals, and financial objectives. They will lead a spiritually irresistible, winsome coalition of leaders from churches, ministries and those from the public, private, and social sectors to generate an ongoing wave of spiritual renewal resulting in a holistic transformational movement in the Bay Area (CA).

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as head of staff, supervisor and ministry partner
  • Lead a team focused on long-range strategies that achieves its mission through consistent and timely progress
  • Create a healthy, loving, servant leadership, faith-oriented culture
  • Promote active and broad volunteer participation
  • Develop a growing knowledge of significant developments, best practices and trends in transformational movements
  • Create a relational network that is proactive in meeting ministry needs while utilizing best practices
  • Identify key business, educational, cultural, governmental gatekeepers and find ways to bless them
  • Serve as ex-officio of each committee / subgroup

Communication:

  • Keep TBC cabinet informed and updated on the condition of the organization, progress towards goals and circumstances impacting the movement
  • Be the primary spokesperson (written and verbal) for TBC—its values, mission and goals both internally and externally
  • Safeguard official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Publicize and promote the activities and goals of TBC

Leadership:

  • Recruit high caliber leaders and develop them into an effective team within a strategic organizational structure
  • Recruit spiritual leadership from across the Bay area into a spiritual community that builds a sustainable movement
  • Hire and release both paid staff and high-level volunteers
  • Ensure human resource best practices are developed including compensation strategy, accurate job descriptions and consistent performance evaluations

 Financial:

  • Develop and execute financial systems including accountability
  • Prepare an annual budget with Cabinet and Initiative Directors to ensure the organization operates within budget
  • Navigate the financial well-being of TBC – recruiting new financial partners and investing in current financial partners
  • Direct the organization to ensure adequate funds are available to fulfill the mission of TBC

 Personal Qualifications: 

  • Spiritual vitality – personal faith in Jesus Christ; scripturally and theologically grounded
  • Passion for a spiritual movement in the Bay Area
  • Credibility in business, community, church and parachurch leadership communities
  • Proven leadership—preferably in both ministry and business
  • Strong recruiter and team-builder
  • Combine spiritual formation depth with strong results orientation
  • Strategic thinker
  • Capacity to leverage resources and get things done 
  • Spiritual, cultural, and relational bridge builder
